Do you know someone who hides everything that they do, even if it’s not necessary? These are secretive people. They also reveal very less about themselves. They believe that “the secret of creativity is knowing how to hide your sources” – Albert Einstein
They feel that they can have an upper hand by not revealing something to others. They feel that if their sources of information get leaked, it will no more remain exclusive to them and become common and eventually they might lose their value.
They like giving surprises and they can do it well because they are good at keeping the surprise a secret till the time it is supposed to get revealed.
It takes time for such people to confide in someone. They don’t believe in disclosing their plans to anybody. By not revealing trivial plans or their situation they close the door for help for themselves.
Even if they are about to do something, they don’t reveal it to anybody. By doing so, they feel they are protecting their interests.
If anybody tries to probe, they are always suspicious about them. Any probing in their privacy is considered intrusion.
They are uncomfortable in discussing their personal issues with anybody. They conceal everything within themselves. It is also known as “self-concealment” which is measured through a self concealment scale. Those who score high on it, tend to be among the ones who can even suffer. When there is excessive self-hiding, this can lead to psychological disturbances like anxiety, depression, and physical pains.
There can be various reasons why people don’t reveal themselves. It can be because the thing they want to hide does not match the “proper” standards of the society, or because they wish to keep it as a hidden source, or may be it makes them uncomfortable to speak up about anything with anyone.
An upward loop in the alphabet "o" shows that the person is secretive.
